When we started Mermaid Bungalow, we knew we wanted it to be different. We wanted to represent the South Florida Lifestyle in a way that no one else has. Sure there are tons of Swimsuit companies down here and T-Shirt companies, and they all show there love for our salty way of living. But we had to ask ourselves , what can we do to make us stand out. Be different but stay true to our way of life. Then it hit us... Work with the locals!!
We have a pretty small community here in Palm Beach County. There are so many entrepreneurs around here with small businesses trying to make it big. So we thought, let's partner with them. I mean there is strength in numbers, right?
First thing we did was reach out to a local artist we know and love. Rochelle Irons of Green Papaya Palace is a fellow mermaid and looking at her paintings is like taking a walk through well... an Octopus's Garden!
It didn't take much to convince her to collaborate with us. She is very big on supporting locals. With in no time, we put together the idea of taking her paintings and putting them on our swimsuits. It's the perfect match. We launched the Green Papaya Collection with our favorite painting of hers. Octopus's Garden. We put the print on several styles of swimwear, a beach towel and beach bag. The print has also extended to our new V-Neck Tees.
Octopus's Garden is the first of many of her prints we will be using. We will be releasing a new one about once a month. Most of the prints will be Limited Edition and only around for a short period of time so make sure you get your favorites while you can!
Over the coming months, we will be working with some other local artists and even a local Rum company. That's right...we said RUM! What's that saying? Rum before noon doesn't make you an alcoholic, it makes you a pirate. LOL! We have a T-shirt that says it best. "Take me where the WiFi is weak and the Rum is strong!
We look forward to sharing with you all the amazing things we have coming. So stay tuned. And as always.. Live. Love. Mermaid.
